This project involved the reproduction of an existing wall sconce manufactured by the Lightolier Company in the early 1930s.  The existing sconce was painted gray but the base metal was bronze.  We disassembled the existing sconce into components and made molds for new investment castings.

We found this rather distinctive sconce in a 1933 Lightolier book, which listed the original finish (natural bronze).  The customer did not want natural bronze so we suggested patinas and they settled on a slightly darker bronze-black patina with a clear lacquer finish.  While none of the original glass existed the 1932 catalog version clearly showed the original glass as amber cathedral, which was used.

Non-cast items reproduced in our shop included a turned brass knob for the top and hand-hammered vent hoods for the lid.
